Artist Spotlight at SunSound Studios - March 16, 2008
Well, this has been a marathon weekend of tracking for the new album and we're completely psyched with the sound we're getting.
Check out this link to
SunSound Studios where we've been featured with some photos of our recording sessions.

Hey... while you're here, why not make sure you get on our email list so that we can let you know right away when we release some of the new material?
Back in the Studio - March 13, 2008
Yep... we're back at it again, tracking for several new tunes this weekend. Tonight we were setting mics and getting the best drum sound possible. It seems to be working--some of the sounds I heard out of Mark's drums tonight were amazing. His kick drum sounds like it's 8 feet tall.
We'll post an update after the weekend and let you know how it's going.
Just Tell Me The Truth - live recording - February 29, 2008
Just got back from an evening of mixing at
Sunsound Studios, and it sure has been a blast listening back to the show. What a fantastic audience! I know we had fun on stage, and from the sound of it, I think lots of people were having a great time. Just incase you missed that show, click over to the "
Music" page and check out the live recording. If it does something for you, drop us an email or sign the guestbook -- we'd love to hear about it.
Opening for Robben Ford - February 8, 2008
What a show last night! There were over 300 people all fired up to hear
Robben Ford and his trio with
Gary Novak and
Travis Carlton. There was so much energy in the air. Our band was charged up too. We felt truly supported by soundman Rich Mead, and everyone at Miners Foundry. Robben Ford's band and sound team were so gracious and down-to-earth with us (Thanks Rick!). All that combined to make a very smooth and successful run up to the show.
For our set, we aired out five new songs from our upcoming album, and unveiled a retooled version of
Fifthing with Grant Reeves on alto sax and Gerry Pineda on bass.
Robben's crowd gave us an enthusiastic response. Producer Mikail Graham from
Nevada City Music Events said "...it was an amazing night of great music with a vibe in the air that you just can't beat! Truly an electrifying night starting with the very first notes of local opening act The Perry Mills Project (who received a standing ovation at the end of their hot set!) all the way through to the final strains of Robben Ford's standing room only encore."
Robben Ford and his band had a humble and confident intensity even as they blazed through a number of tracks from
Truth. That album is up for the Best Contemporary Blues Album Grammy award. This band has that combination of emotional delivery and technical skill that is irresistable. Ford's tribute to B.B. King, entitled
Riley B. King, is a new favorite of mine.
Peace On My Mind was a crowd favorite too. The trio version seemed to make the tune even more personal and urgent. That song was just one of many examples of the inaccuracy of limiting Robben Ford with the "blues guitarist" label. He is that, but as a composer and artist, he transcends and redefines that label more than it fits him.
